VACANCY – ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT INTERN!

ORGANISATION OVERVIEW:

Noupoort Wind Farm is part of the third round of the South African government’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPP). It is situated in the Umsobomvu Municipal Area, located 10km east of Noupoort in the Northern Cape. Noupoort Wind Farm spans 7 500 hectares and comprises thirty five 99m-high wind turbines.

When operating at full capacity, the 80MW Noupoort Wind Farm generates around 304 800 MWh/year of clean renewable energy per year and is expected to supply electricity to power up to 70 000 South African homes.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Intern will provide administrative and project support to the ED team, as well as assisting the ED Manager when distributing key project information. This role will provide a learning environment for the Intern to develop skills in community engagement and financial processes.

We would like to advise that this role is specifically advertised for candidates from the local communities.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support the ED Team as front-line point of contact for the Project Company in the project office.

Assist in document control (SharePoint) and distribution of reports, project and information.

Support the ED Team with planning, preparation, implementation, reporting and auditing of approved projects.

Provide administrative support to the ED Team during administration of the Project Company grievance mechanism.

Provide information to Public Relations team for articles, newsletter information and assist in organising radio interviews where applicable.

Assist with uploading information into the Trimax Management System.

Maintain strong working relationships and open and transparent communication between all members of the ED Team to ensure a healthy working environment is maintained.

Assist in organising community meetings, focus group sessions and key informant interviews with various stakeholders, and assist the ED Team with annual BBBEE audits.

Build strong relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders.

Engage regularly with beneficiaries/service providers to gain relevant information regarding the initiatives and to monitor their impact.

Arrange stakeholder meetings including minute-taking, distributing agendas, attendance registers, etc. as required by the ED Team.

Receive and document community project proposals on behalf of the ED Team, as required.

And any other duties, as assigned by the ED team and/or the line manager, in line with the role.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Minimum National Certificate, National Diploma or equivalent NQF level qualification in Business Management, Finance, Social Science or other relevant fields of study.

Candidates will not have more than 2 year’s relevant working experience.

Theoretical knowledge or exposure to coordinating small projects would be advantageous.

Knowledge about the local community and surrounding areas will be beneficial.

Good command of English language and one other South African language.

No political affiliations.

Must be able and willing to travel as and when required.

Comply with any age or funding requirements applicable under national youth employment or SETA-funded programmes, as far as possible.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Ability to use Microsoft software e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Good interpersonal skills and comfortable in dealing with people at different levels.

Able to adequately manage high-pressure situations.

Adequate reporting and presentation skills.

Cross cultural awareness and strong ethical behaviour.
