Work with Noupoort

Internship – South Africa Wind Energy Association(SAWEA)

The South Africa Wind Energy Association (SAWEA) in partnership with Noupoort Wind Farm, is excited to announce that Wind Industry Internship Programme (WIIP) will be running for the second time in 2023. WIIP first launched in 2022 January, where 15 interns were placed and mentored by SAWEA member organisations for a period of 12 months. This current process will however be running for the first time through the Noupoort Wind Farm and we are excited to open it up to the Noupoort community.

The WIIP internship offers hands-on experience to exceptional South African students who are committed to building a career in renewable wind energy.

The purpose of the WIIP is to provide young professionals who have any tertiary education, including N4, NQF level 5 – 6 in Engineering: Energy, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Civil, with the opportunity to gain practical work experience in line with their studies and interests, and to expose them to work that is related to sustainable energy.

The students will be working alongside the Noupoort Wind Farm’s Operational Team, being exposed to various tasks and activities in and around the wind farm. The 2023 applications have been reopened to ensure maximum participation and young aspiring professionals are encouraged to apply.
Please note: the program is sponsored and ran by SAWEA, all applications will have to go through the SEWEA website and not submitted to the Noupoort Wind Farm or the team. The Noupoort Wind Farm will only be responsible for the administering of the practical onsite experiential training and development of interns.

The wind industry has a diverse skills requirement; the focus areas will be on the following broad skills areas:

  • Engineering: Energy, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Civil etc.
  • Natural Sciences and Mathematics (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics and Environmental Sciences.
  • Administration and Management (Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Procurement, Human Resource Management)
  • Social Sciences/Humanities (Economics, Gender, International Relations, Communication, Population Studies, Law)
  • Information Technology (Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Multimedia Web Design, Software Engineering)

Noupoort Wind Farm Focus Area
The Noupoort Wind Farm will only focus on the below internship intake for 2023/2024:

Scaled Impact is a project development and strategic advisory company based in Johannesburg and Berlin. We are a not-for-profit social enterprise. – Develop efficient agriculture and manufacturing businesses in Africa 

– Link small-scale and emerging farmers to large-scale markets

Project and Job Specifications 

This is an agricultural community project that will deliver long-term growth of small-scale livestock farmers. Livestock farming plays a critical economic and social role in the Northern Cape. 

We are looking for a junior to mid-level analyst to join our team on a 3-month contract. 

The person we are looking for is: 

– Based in and around Noupoort in the Northern Cape 

– Fluent in Afrikaans and English 

– Experience in or comfortable with community research and direct community interviews 

– A background in agriculture, economics or social sciences 

– Highly motivated and wanting to make a social contribution 

– Self-motivating and able to work without great direct oversight 

– Able to write, with a good grasp of Microsoft Office products, mainly Word and Excel 

– Commercially aware. Some understanding of economics, business and marketing is valuable 

Salary is market-related.

INSTALLATION OF WATER TANK

SCOPE OF WORK
To erect a stand and fit a 5250 litre jo-jo tank and pump at Zingce ECD Centre, situated in Shaw Street, Noupoort. The jo-jo tank and related material needs to be transported from Eurekaville Hardware store to Zingce ECD Centre, fitted and connected to the kitchen and bathroom taps to ensure water availability throughout the day. (Tank to be filled with water, supplied by the ECD Centre).
