Clean Energy, Brighter Future, Stronger Community

About

10 km east of Noupoort in the Northern Cape, Noupoort Wind Farm’s 35 turbines generate over 304,000 MWh of clean power each year—enough to supply more than 91,000 South African homes. Operating since July 2016, it was the first project in Round 3 of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP) to reach Commercial Operations.

Beyond producing renewable energy and avoiding around 300,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually, the wind farm invests in local growth through enterprise development, skills training, and education initiatives, including maths and science programmes, computer and science labs and other impactful programmes.

Community

Education is at the heart of our investment strategy, with support spanning from Early Childhood Development to tertiary scholarships. Our initiatives include maths and science programmes, upgrades to local school infrastructure, and targeted assistance for teachers and learners.

Youth development is further strengthened through skills training, mentorship, and pathways to local employment. The wind farm also drives SMME growth by offering business training, enterprise development funding, and capacity-building workshops, with a focus on youth- and women-owned businesses.

Our support of the local farming community promotes sustainable agriculture through training, resources, and initiatives aimed at boosting productivity and resilience.

By investing in education, enterprise, and agriculture, Noupoort Wind Farm is helping to nurture a skilled, self-reliant community equipped for long-term success.
