We are committed to contributing to sustainable community growth through financial and non-financial community development initiatives. We will do this by giving back a percentage of total revenue earned to the community; through Socio-Economic Development (SED); Enterprise Development (ED); and the establishment of a Community Trust.
Noupoort Wind Farm’s socio-economic development projects will include health programmes (HIV and AIDS, vulnerable children programmes), infrastructure development, women development, youth upliftment – sports programmes and education support programmes, including; early childhood development, as part of a crèche support programme; as well as numeracy and literacy interventions at a primary school level.
Enterprise Development includes initiatives to assist and accelerate the sustainability of local enterprises and could look at support of emerging farmers in the area or other emerging economic activities.
Any local business or individual that would like apply for business support in order to improve the functionality of their business should contact the Economic Development Manager for more information.
The Noupoort Renewable Energy Community Trust, which owns 5% of the wind farm came into existence through loans; 50% from the Development Bank of South Africa and 50% from Company’s Shareholders.
