NOUPOORT WIND FARM SUPPORTS THE LEGACY OF MANDELA IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY |
In celebration of Mandela Day, 18th July 2017, Noupoort Wind Farm pledged their time and funds to the elderly in their community as well as helping to improve the local school.
“The elderly are often forgotten in our communities which is why, this year, we have focused on making a difference to hundreds of senior citizens from the Eurekaville and Kwzamzolo communities,” explained Economic Development Manager for Noupoort Wind Farm, Livhuwani Nwachukwu.
The local Wind Farm managed two soup kitchens and handed out warm clothes to over 200 elderly community members. Warm jackets, hoodies and scarves were provided for all community members, marking this special day.
“As one of the world’s great moral and political leaders of our time, Nelson Mandela inspired the people of our country and millions around the world to make a difference in the fight against poverty, and we are proud to be part of this,” added Livhu.
Noupoort Wind Farm’s support of the local Noupoort Combined School included renovations and landscaping of the school grounds. This is a school that the wind farm works closely with on a number of educational programmes including literacy, mathematics and science initiatives.
