Temporary road closures |
- Temporary road closures will be required at the Olifantskop Pass between Coega and Middleton.
- The road shall be closed to allow for the turning movements of the blade components.
- Note that the traffic police want to assist these road closures, and they only allow movement of abnormal loads through the pass between 09:00 and 11:00 on weekdays. These days could also vary, as the availability of the traffic police dictates when they are able to assist.
- Through the town of Middelburg, parked vehicles on the sides of the road make two-way traffic difficult and a safety risk. The main road though town (Meintjies Street) between Joubert Street and Victoria Street should be closed off for the southbound traffic while the loads are transported through the town.
- On the western exit of Cradock (point 33 on Figure 6), the narrow rail bridge across the road might require oncoming traffic to be stopped in order to let the load pass through underneath.
- Traffic Police Escort shall be responsible for all traffic management as necessary including the diversion of traffic around the combination in areas of two way traffic.
