COMMUNITY LEADERS CELEBRATE LAUNCH OF ZINGISANI CRECHE IN NOUPOORT

Community leaders gathered together with members of the Noupoort community, families and over 200 crèche children to celebrate the launch of the recently upgraded Zingisani Creche, in Noupoort.

Along with the centre’s Principal and staff, the hundreds of community children who are taken care of at this early childhood development centre, expressed their delight and joy, on seeing the results of this extensive refurbishment programme, interiors and Lego equipment, a favourite amongst the youngsters.

In addition to this, the crèche received education material and the outdoor equipment. The learning materials and equipment compliments early learning; its practitioners and principal have also undergone skills enhancement training, all of which form part of Noupoort Wind Farm’s ECD development programme.

Expressing her gratitude for the work undertaken by Noupoort Wind Farm, Zingisani Crèche’s Principal, Mrs. Noxolo Renga said, “We now know for sure that our learners have access to quality education in a conducive and safe environment, which will in turn help them in their schooling careers as they will have received a solid foundation”.

This community Early Childhood Development (ECD) facility receives only a small grant from the Department of Social Development and parents are only able to contribute a minimal fee each month, which are some of the reasons that the wind farm has included Zingisani in its socio economic development initiatives.

The upgrades, which were carried out by local contractors, included a redesigned kitchen, classrooms, bathrooms and a wholly upgraded building that is now modern and better equipped to provide a safe environment for children as young as three months.

“We identified the necessity to support this crèche during our needs analysis study as we were particularly concerned about the health risk to these young children,” explained Livhuwani Nwachukwu, Economic Development Manager for Noupoort Wind Farm.

“We, as the community of Noupoort, are very happy to witness the results of the great work that Noupoort Wind Farm is undertaking to improve the quality of life for the people of this community,” concluded Councillor Mzimkhulu Cestile.
