Enoch Mthetho High School is showcasing its commitment to academic distinction in the Noupoort community, with an impressive 100% pass rate in the Computer Application Technology (CAT) programme. Funded by Noupoort Wind Farm since 2017, this initiative has played a key role in fostering STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education at the school, driving transformative changes and uplifting the community.

Under the leadership of Ms Linda Hena and Dr. Brian Mabuyana, teachers at the school, this support has been instrumental in ensuring the continuity of CAT, Science, and Mathematics education at Enoch Mthetho High School.

“This success is a testament to the dedication and engagement of both educators and learners, despite the challenges we faced. Notably, Computer Applications Technology has maintained a 100% pass rate for the past three years, reflecting our commitment to excellence. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Noupoort Wind Farm, for their unwavering support of Enoch Mthetho High School. Your continued investment in our institution is deeply appreciated, and I am committed to honouring this support by persistently striving for excellence,” expressed Dr. Mabuyana, CAT teacher.

As a response to the school’s principal’s request for STEM education support, the wind farm initiated this comprehensive programme as part of its socio-economic development drive, to enhance the teaching and learning of CAT, Science, and Mathematics. By providing funding for the salaries of two teachers and one assistant teacher, Noupoort Wind Farm has not only sustained but also propelled the academic endeavours of the school.

“We believe that investing in education is investing in a better future for our community. In recognising the significance of STEM education, we acknowledge the impact that CAT, Mathematics, and Science have on learners and the broader community. These subjects not only foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills but also cultivate technological literacy, unlocking diverse career pathways in our digital era. Moreover, proficiency in STEM disciplines enhances global competitiveness, empowering individuals to thrive in an ever-evolving world,” stated Noupoort Wind Farm Economic Development Manager, Sandisiwe Mntonintshi.
